Michael Erik Myatt Distinguished Dissertation Award. Call for Nominations Named after Michael Erik Myatt, who conceived UMInDS and worked tirelessly to establish it, the Distinguished Dissertation Award in Disability Studies is given annually in recognition of exceptional work by terminal degree (PhD and MFA) students in the field of Disability Studies.
Weiqiang Chen - ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award, which is given in recognition of the most exceptional scholarly work produced by doctoral students at the University of Michigan. Yue Shao - Ivor K. McIvor Award, which is presented to senior graduate students in the UM College of Engineering who have demonstrated excellence in research and scholarship in applied mechanics.
The nomination dossiers submitted are then read and discussed by a review panel of faculty members who identify the finalists. Members of the Michigan Society of Fellows read the finalists’ dissertations, review the merits, and select the winners. We recognize these exceptional dissertations with the ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards.
The ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award recognizes exceptional and unusually interesting work produced by doctoral students from the Rackham School of Graduate Studies. Kevin was a doctoral student in Anish Tuteja’s group and is currently an an assistant professor at the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia.

The ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards are given out each year to recognize highly accomplished graduate students who have produced outstanding dissertations of the highest scholarly quality in any field of study. For 2018 there were 10 awards given and one was to ME Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Dakotah Thompson.

News and Events. Kurt Lundeen successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation in February 2019. Professor Kamat’s co-authored paper was awarded the 2018 Collingwood Prize by the ASCE. Professor Kamat awarded the 2017 Distinguished Professor Award by the Construction Industry Institute LIVE awarded Best Paper Award at the 2016 International Symposium on Automation and Robotics in Construction.
